HELLO
SUNDOWN

BURLINGTON BARS & NIGHTLIFE

Similar to music cities like Nashville and New Orleans, Burlington is a town with music in its late-night DNA. Down on the waterfront, cult-followed Foam Brewers hosts nearly-daily live music alongside their playful pints, while Deli/126 offers warm jazz alongside a carefully crafted (and robust!) cocktail list. (Don’t miss the Catching Feelings, a rose-colored cocktail featuring bourbon, vecchio amaro del capo, Campari, lime and cranberry). From dive bars to hotel lobbies, you’ll be able to catch local music talent alongside your old fashioned or chilled glass of rosè.

As a state overflowing with local brewers and distillers, we balance our quirky charm while maintaining a focused dedication to great craft brews and cocktails. Vermont is home to the highest rated beer (Heady Topper) and brewery (Hill Farmstead) so it’s no surprise that Burlington beer lists are thick with top-quality brews, from balanced pilsners to heady IPAs. We boast one of the most active chapters of the U.S. Bartenders Guild--expect to find a locally-focused cocktail list at nearly every restaurant and bar in town.

In summertime the revelry spills out onto patios lining Church Street and parklets tucked between street trees. You can wander over to Light Club Lamp Shop to sway your hips to disco vinyl, or swing by Nectar’s to pay homage to the birthplace of jam-band Phish and choose from its multiple nightly dance parties.

Perhaps the best part? Our downtown features spots all within close walking distance to each other, meaning you can have a choose-your-own-adventure late night exploration. Burlington offers the welcome of a small town with the drink sophistication of a big city, so skip standing in line and pull up at a seat in the Queen City.

ALSO CHECK OUT

Eating local is a way of life in Burlington. It’s a food system as dynamic and closely intertwined as the farmers, makers, artisans and purveyors that make the city’s heart beat. The ingredients at Burlington’s fingertips are the same ones sourced at acclaimed restaurants across the country — but here, they’re in our backyard.

Our surrounding farmland boasts row after row of happy apple trees, and wild apple trees can be discovered next to aging barns and farmhouse around New England. It’s no surprise that the cider making tradition is rooted back generations. And that same terroir has made our corner of the US one of the most interesting places to make wine.

Brewers and hop lovers from around the world travel to Vermont for our beer — it’s a brewing culture unique enough to be recognized by the state itself. “Vermont beer” is a categorical distinction, a style defined by the Green Mountain State. According to the national Brewers Association, we currently have around fourteen breweries per 100,000 people over age twenty-one in Vermont, leading the country in number of craft breweries per capita.
