If you’re ready for fun in the water, learn to sail at the Community Sailing Center or explore the beaches of Lake Champlain. Even better, get on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen for a sunset cruise. Of course, there’s plenty of fun to be had on dry land as well. Bike rentals options are plentiful and kids love a ride to the Causeway and a trip on the Bike Ferry. The nearby Green Mountains also offer challenging climbs and easy, short hikes.
Visit ECHO at Leahy Center for an absorbing array of seasonal exhibits and permanent exhibitions highlighting the biology, geology, and history of the Lake Champlain basin, or stroll the grounds of the Shelburne Museum, where you’ll find one of the most eclectic collections anywhere works from Monet, Cassat, and Degas alongside the world’s largest collection of duck decoys, a real steamship, and historic circus carousel. The region also has some of the funnest factory tours you’ll find anywhere, including Vermont Teddy Bear, Lake Champlain Chocolates, and the Burton Snowboard factory.

The Ethan Allen Homestead is a historic museum built-in 1787 by Revolutionary war hero Ethan Allen and is the only surviving residence of his in the state. It is open to the public annually from May to October.
